While I was working in the Corporate world, I worked for a company which had their headquarters in Colorado. Having made multiple trips to the area I was able to explore the beauty, spaciousness, and the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains.
This is one of the many pictures I was able to capture and then paint - although somewhat edited!
I had to decide if the picture I referenced needed to have the barn aged (as in a very old barn) or cleaned up as if it had been well maintained. Because of the beauty of the surrounding property and the trees and mountains, I chose to go with a somewhat pristeen presentation
Because the "Red Barn" is almost too much of a focal point, I chose to add the two horses to the right, and to add the crop of trees on the left. This enabled the viewer to "slide" into the painting with interest on the right and left, instead of slamming the viewer directly into a very red barn.
The mountains also offered a viewing diversion.
I had considered calling this painting "The land of 100,000 brush strokes". If you're going to paint a scene as beautiful as this, give the scene everything it deserves!
